Frequently Asked Questions
Does Juni Health accept insurance?
No. Juni Health is a cash pay practice and does not bill or participate with insurance plans.
Our care model is designed to allow for longer visits, more personalized support, and a focus on your overall health rather than the limitations of a traditional insurance based visit.
You will know the cost of your care before enrolling, so there are no unexpected bills from Juni Health.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Juni Health accepts HSA and FSA funds for eligible healthcare expenses.
Eligibility can vary based on your individual plan, so we recommend checking with your HSA or FSA administrator if you have questions about a specific service.
Can I still use my insurance for prescriptions, labs, imaging, or other medical services?
Yes. Although Juni Health does not bill insurance for our visits or programs, you may still use your health insurance for outside services such as prescriptions, laboratory testing, imaging, specialists, and other healthcare services when applicable.
Coverage and out of pocket costs are determined by your individual insurance plan.
Is Juni Health a primary care practice?
No. Juni Health is not intended to replace your primary care provider.
We focus on metabolic health, hormone related concerns, weight management, lifestyle medicine, and breast cancer survivorship and recovery. We encourage patients to maintain an established primary care provider for routine preventive care, acute illnesses, vaccinations, and other general medical needs.
Is Juni Health an urgent care clinic?
No. Juni Health does not provide urgent or emergency care.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For urgent medical concerns that cannot wait for a scheduled appointment, please contact your primary care provider or an urgent care facility.
What types of patients does Juni Health work with?
Juni Health primarily works with women who want a more comprehensive approach to improving their health.
Our programs focus on areas such as metabolic health, weight management, hormone related concerns, lifestyle changes, and breast cancer survivorship and recovery.
Rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation, we look at the broader factors that may be affecting how you feel and your long term health.
What happens during the Discovery Consultation?
The Discovery Consultation is an extended first visit with Betheny Schumacher, MSN, FNP-BC.
Before your appointment, you will complete a detailed health questionnaire. During the visit, Betheny will review your health history, current concerns, medications and supplements, lifestyle, previous treatment attempts, and your goals.
The purpose of the visit is to better understand your overall health picture and determine what next steps may make sense for you.
Do I have to enroll in a program after the Discovery Consultation?
No. The Discovery Consultation is an opportunity to understand your health concerns, discuss your goals, and determine whether Juni Health is the right fit.
If one of our programs is appropriate, we will explain the recommended approach, what is included, the expected timeline, and the cost before you make a decision.
How are Juni Health programs different from a typical doctor's visit?
Traditional medical visits are often designed to address a specific problem within a relatively short appointment.
Juni Health programs provide more time to understand the factors that may be contributing to your health, create an individualized plan, and follow your progress over several months.
Depending on your needs, this may include nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, metabolic health, medications, laboratory testing, body composition, and other factors that influence your overall health.
How long are the programs?
Most Juni Health programs are designed to last approximately four to six months.
The length of your program depends on your health needs and goals. During that time, you will have ongoing visits and support rather than receiving a plan at one appointment and being left to navigate it on your own.
What happens after I complete my program?
Our goal is to help you build a sustainable approach that can continue beyond the initial program.
Patients who would like ongoing support after completing their program may have the option to transition into a continuing care membership.
Do you offer both in person and virtual appointments?
Yes. Continuing care appointments may be available both in person and virtually when clinically appropriate.
Some services, evaluations, or measurements may require an in person visit.
Who can receive care from Juni Health?
Betheny Schumacher, MSN, FNP-BC, is licensed to provide care to patients located in Virginia.
This applies to both in person and virtual visits. For virtual appointments, you must be physically located in Virginia at the time of your visit.
Do your programs include body composition testing?
Juni Health uses InBody body composition analysis when appropriate to provide information beyond the number on the scale.
This can help us follow changes in areas such as body fat, muscle mass, and overall body composition over time.
Will Juni Health coordinate with my other healthcare providers?
Yes. We believe good healthcare should be collaborative.
When appropriate and with your permission, Juni Health can coordinate with your primary care provider, specialists, or other members of your healthcare team.
How do I communicate with Juni Health between visits?
Patients enrolled in ongoing care have access to the patient portal for nonurgent questions and communication with the practice.
We generally respond to portal messages within 48 business hours. The portal should not be used for urgent or emergency medical concerns.
Where is Juni Health located?
Juni Health is located in Gainesville, Virginia, and offers both in person and virtual care when appropriate.
